Part of the Catholic Life of our school is learning to be good citizens and representing our peers to bring about positive change. One way we do this is by having a school council. Usually in Autumn the newly elected School Council representatives visit the Houses of Parliament. This year we cannot do this in real life so we enjoyed a virtual visit!

We had a fun virtual workshop today all about the Houses of Parliament and our government with a quiz at the end to see what we had memorised from the activities.

We learnt the names of some of the political parties and how many Members of Parliament (MPs) there are – 650!

We noticed some similarities between our School Council and the Houses of Parliament. Firstly, members of our School Council are voted for by their class and MPs are voted for by UK citizens who are 18 and over. Secondly, our School Council work on making our school better and MPs work on how to make the country better.
