On Wednesday, our Year 1 children enjoyed a wonderful end-of-year trip to Broadstairs Beach.
The excitement began bright and early as everyone arrived at school ready for a fun-filled day. After the register, we boarded the coach—our first coach trip of the year! As we travelled through central London, the children loved spotting famous landmarks and discovering new places.
When we arrived, we met up with parents who had travelled separately and enjoyed our packed lunches together, keeping a watchful eye out for the cheeky seagulls! It was a very warm day, and although we were all a little hot and sweaty, the sunshine made it the perfect day to be at the beach.
The children kicked off their shoes and socks and took part in a sandcastle competition. Working brilliantly in teams, they used buckets, spades and lots of imagination to create some fantastic designs. As the lifeguards were super busy this year we could not get them to judge our competition but all of the children did a great job.
There was plenty of time for free play in the sand before everyone’s favourite activity—paddling in the sea! Although the water was a little chilly at first, that didn’t stop the children from having lots of fun splashing and laughing together.
Before heading home, everyone enjoyed a well-earned ice cream, the perfect way to finish such a memorable day. The journey back was filled with games, chatting and even a few naps after all the excitement.
Throughout the day, the children were a real credit to the school. Their behaviour was exceptional, and they showed kindness, enthusiasm and respect wherever they went.
A huge thank you to Miss Carruthers for organising such a fantastic trip, to our wonderful parent volunteers for their support throughout the day, and to the SVPA for generously funding our visit. It was a brilliant way to celebrate a fantastic year in Year 1!
