This week we had our first aid workshop with Martin from Mini First Aid. First, Martin introduced us to Teddy, his helper. We had a pad and a plaster and we each had to dab the pad onto our partner’s hand and put a plaster on it. This taught us how to stop bleeding when you have a cut! Then poor Teddy was ill, Martin told us all about what to do if someone is unconscious. We have to put them in the recovery position, which he showed us how to do. We then practiced this with our partner. After this, we discussed choking and what to do if someone was choking. We have to bend them over, put our hands in front of them to steady them and practiced hitting our partner’s back (gently, just for the practice) five times. On the last time, we had to cough really loudly to pretend that the food had come up. Martin then read us a book about Freddie, choking on a piece of sausage. We learnt that we need to sit, chop and chew!

We would like to thank the SVPA for funding this experience, we learnt so much! Thank you to Martin from Mini First Aid for teaching us all of these valuable skills.

I loved the First Aid workshop because we got to pretend that we were not feeling well. The part that I liked the most was sticking the plaster onto their back of their hand. Thanks for organising this wonderful activity!!

This mini first aid workshop was so fun. I feel it is necessary to know and learn these skills on how to keep ourselves safe and how to help others if needed.
Thank you Martin for teaching us these life skills.

This was save-tastic. I once had a bleeding knee and had to put a plaster on and it stopped! I hope no-one else gets hurt. Martin is an amazing teacher teaching us about how to stop someone from choking how to stop a bleed and the recovery position.

    KEEP SAFE EVERYONE

Thanks Martin for teaching us how to be a Super-Hero Saving people when someone’s hurt
