In Music this term, we have learning how to play the ukulele with Mr Hylton!
We have been learning about the parts of the ukulele such as the strings and also the correct way to hold a ukulele with one arm at the two o’clock position and one hand holding near ukulele the tuning pegs and the other over strings next to the sound hole. Mr Hylton also demonstrated to us how to pluck and strum them. We have been taught a great way to make sure that the ukulele is in tune by using the saying “Good Children Eat Apples” which is the string order of a ukulele. How clever is that!
This week, we were introduced to a new song that helped us to remember what chord to play. We have been working really hard Mr Hylton first showed us how to play the chord and then played a piano piece which we had to follow along to keep up with the tune. We also had to sing at the same time which was a lot of multitasking.
Next week, we have been set the challenge of playing some drums alongside the ukuleles to create one wonderful piece of music. Let’s see if Year 4 are up to the challenge!
