Last week, 9 pupils from Years 3 and 4 took part in a netball tournament alongside 3 other Westminster schools.
The event was organised by Westminster Sports Unit but run by volunteer students from Marylebone High School for Girls. Each team was allocated students to facilitate the morning activities and help their teams in matches against each other after lunch. The morning activities involved drills, games and exercises designed to develop the children’s netball skills including passing, defending and shooting skills.
After lunch it was time to put what we had learned into practice and we played 2 matches against two different teams. We drew the first match 0-0 and the second match 2-2, which was a fantastic achievement because it meant that we finished the day undefeated! Even better than that though was the teamwork, the understanding of tactics, the use of space and the application of skills that was on display. We also demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, giving each other support and encouragement. We had a fantastic experience and we are all extremely proud of ourselves for our commitment, hard work and teamwork.
A huge thank you to the organisers and particularly the volunteers from Marylebone High School for Girls! Well done everyone!
