This summer’s new topic is Ancient Egypt!

Ancient Egypt is one of the most fascinating periods in the ancient world. It’s history features ancient tombs, dazzling temples and fascinating rulers and has been the focus of many archaeologists for thousands of years.

We are excited to learn about daily life, the significance of the River Nile, hieroglyphics, the pyramids, the pharaohs and mummification. Our topic will also include a visit to the British Museum because you can’t learn about Ancient Egypt and not see the amazing artefacts which can be found right here in our home city! We are particularly looking forward to seeing the Rosetta stone and we’ll find out why the stone is such an important relic!

This half term’s homework features some creative tasks which will help you to discover more about the incredible world of ancient Egypt alongside out lessons.

In the mean time, to prepare us for some of the key things we will be exploring in this topic, please answer the questions in the comments:
1.   Who were the Pharaohs and why were they special in ancient Egypt?
2.   Why was the river Nile so important to the ancient Egyptians?
3.   What are some of the magnificent things that the ancient Egyptians built?

I am really excited to discover more about the pharaohs, artefacts, myths, gods and goddesses and all of the wonderful and gory parts of the ancient Egyptian civilisation!
