Good morning Year 1!
Our new topic for Summer 1 is ‘Wish you were here!’ This is a great topic because you will do lots of different activities linked the seaside in the United Kingdom – this is where we live!
Seaside holidays were quite different in the past to how they are today. Here is a picture of a seaside holiday in the 1900s. This picture was taken over a 100 years ago.
This is a picture of people at Brighton beach. It is still taken at the seaside but there are a lot of differences!
Have a listen to this to learn what it was like to go on holiday to the seaside in the Victorian times.
I want you to have a think about this question. The question is:
Would you prefer a holiday in the city, at the beach or somewhere else?

I would like to go to Scotland because when we went there before we saw a lot of sheep in the mountains and we did a pic nic in the mountains and I saw white wild horses.
I would like to go somewhere else because me and my family went to Cape Verde with our friends and it was so nice because they had two pools beside each other and we could swim everyday. My big brother Joseph had his own apartment, and me and the rest of my family had another apartment, it was near the slide, me Ethan and dad went there most days, but when I went down the slide it went into a deep pool and I thought I had drowned. It was a great holiday.
I like going to the countryside because it has lots of wild flowers growing everywhere, trees, green fields, birds singing, animals, mountains to climb and rivers to swim in. It very peaceful and Iots of space outside to play. It is fresh and clean.
I prefer to go to Spain to the beach because I like to swim and also I like to see the fishes!
I would like to go to Spain because
I loved the beach it’s very clean and I like to play on the sand with my bucket.Everyday we are always on the beach because the weather is very hot and we are sweating.I wish we can go back there again.
I prefer to spend my holidays at the beautiful blue sea in the beach. I like swimming in the sea and playing with my little brother on the sand. We build castles. It is so relaxing there because there is lots of sunshine. I like doing photographs and listening to the calm gentle noise of the sea. One day, I carried a crab and I was not scared. I like going to the beach with my cousins and we play. Sometimes we go on a boat. ??️Once I drived a boat with my cousins ! ⛵
I like to go to Brazil and I like to go to my grampa’s farm and my gramas too and I try to get chickens and ride on horses or play with them.
I go to the beach and I also play in the beach, and I love eat ice cream .
Last year we went to Bournemouth beach because my dad had a swimming race.I like this beach because is very clean and long.
There is my favorite restaurant with fish and chips and we can eat outside.
I also like going to the Barcelona because sea is very warm, and my aunty lives there.

I prefer going on holiday to a hot country in the summer and spending time relaxing on the beach! I love to read my book and cool off in the sea?
I prefer going on holiday to America in the summer and spend time with my grandparents and cousins which we always do every year. I get to travel to different states while we are there. I love going to Virginia beach with my cousins because we make sandcastle, swim and play. I like going to the big museums and to different theme parks.
I prefer my holiday in Lebanon because I can go see my cousins and play outside in the fields . I also go swimming and sometimes have picnics with my cousins. I love Lebanon because it is fun and the weather is always hot so I a have a lot of icecream.
I want to go to Ireland ?? because there is a beach ? ,there is lots of animals and you can swim ?♀️ in the sea ? and there are wild horses.
My Nanny and Great Aunt and Uncle and some of my cousins live in Southern Ireland ?? in Cork.
I would prefer to go swimming pool because we have a rubber ring and we can lie on the rubber ring.
I prefer to go to the beach because I like to splash in the sea and have a cold chocolate ice cream. In my last holiday I went to Maldives to celebrate my birthday and I saw a grab and I picked it up and it felt ticklish. The sea was turquoise and I swam in it a lot. I even went sack-racing and treasure hunting with my sister.
I like to go to the swimming pool on holiday. My favourite pool to go to is on a hotel roof in Miami. I like this swimming pool because it has a bar on the roof so I can get food and drinks.
I prefer the pool but my mum stays at the beach every day. When we were at the beach we saw a Portuguese man o’ war jelly fish. I learnt that they are very dangerous and they have a venom.
I like the beach because we always go kayaking. We went on a boat ride and I saw a turtle poke its head out of the water.

I prefer to go to beach especially aqua park because there is water slides.And I like to play with others. I like to eat ice cream in the beach. I like to swim in the sea.

I prefer going to Brittany to the seaside, because there is the sea. We can make sandcastles. my cousins and I are very good at it. There is also a small shop to eat waffles and ice creams. This year I will be cycling on my own bike around the village.

I have enjoyed reading your answers! I like going on holiday to the seaside so I can go in the sea, but I don’t like jelly fish either! I think it’s also nice to holiday in the countryside because I love all the green, open spaces!
My favourite place to go for holiday is the swimming pool, because you can splash and go down water slides.
I prefer to go the beach because of the seashells and the sand.
I would prefer to go camping because it is fun and I can play with my toys with my Mum in the tents.
Hello year 1, I like to go to the beach and read my book and watch all the people enjoying themselves although a city holiday can be a lot of fun as you learn lots of new things about the place you are visiting. But for now I will just have to sit on my garden and dream about next summer.

The Eiffel tower is very tall! You can see lots from the top!
Hello Year 1 I like a beach holiday where l can sit under a beach umbrella and read my book. I also like the countryside where my sister lives in Ireland it is peaceful there. I miss you all take care xx?
I would prefer to have a holiday at the beach because we can go at the beach everyday and dig a big hole in the sand, swim, jump in the waves, eat ice-creams, and play with my cousins.
