Good morning Year 1!

Well done for thinking and commenting on the question in our first RE blog this week. You all understood that holidays are quite different to ordinary days.

Pentecost day is different from an ordinary day. Today I will teach you more about the story of Pentecost before you complete an activity.

You will see a video of the Pentecost story. Remember to press pause at the end so it does not go onto the next video!

The Bible story can be found here, or you can read it in your own Bible at home.

In this story, you will see the words Ascension or ascended. This means going up. Jesus went back to his father in Heaven after He rose from the dead on Easter Sunday.

1.Have a think about these questions:

  1. Who would send the Holy Spirit?
  2. When the disciples saw Jesus leave to go to heaven, how do you think they felt?
  3. Do you think the disciples believed that Jesus would keep His promise?
  4. How do you think the disciples felt when they were given the Holy Spirit?

2. Artwork

I would like you to create your own picture of Pentecost. You could paint, colour, draw, collage. Be creative and take as long as you need!

You could create your picture showing important symbols of the Holy Spirit or you could show all the disciples with the Holy Spirit above their heads.

Have a look at some pictures that might help you.

When you have completed your artwork, please take a picture and send it to me. I will post them in a gallery.
