  1. I think it is crowded at the beach. Not many people swim.

  2. People would not dress in swim suits in the past and ladies would change in bathing machines. Beaches were less crowded in the past and there was less rubbish on the floor. However, people were already eating lots of ice creams and so we do today!

  3. People did not go in the sea and they had donkey rides and wore normal clothes.

  4. It was look like people used to go with horses to the beach and with different clothes and not at lot people crowding.

  5. I think in the Victorian times it was funny because we were allowed to go on a donkey ride.
In the past it would look like quieter and slower because there were no cars? and no aeroplanes.✈️

  6. Hello Miss Travers,

Our world is with modern beaches but the Victorians is with a different style.
People in the past could not travel to one country to another but
we can travel today. Our beach is very crowded. In Victorian times there were not to many people.
There were no umbrellas for sun bathing and snacks in Victorian times.

  7. Hello Miss Travers,

In the Victorian times people loved to have donkey rides. If they wanted to swim in the sea girls and boys were divided. There were less people and rubbish as they didn’t use much plastic like now. They thought the air was good for them. They loved to build sandcastles and eat ice cream like I do! They wore lots of clothes.

  8. In the past, the beaches were all clean but now they are dirty. The women changed their clothes in the bathing machine. They made a sandcastle and they didn’t have towels to sit on . They had to sit on the sand because there was no chairs.

  9. In the past they didn’t sit on chairs they sat on the sand and boys and girls couldn’t go together in the sea.

  10. I noticed that the beach ? is crowded now compared during Victorian times.. The people go to the beach ? riding in their horses. They have bathing machines then.

  11. In the past people were riding donkeys, and were dressing up nice and couldn’t go in the water because they weren’t wearing a swimming suit.

  12. Dear Miss Travers.

In the Victorian times (when Queen Victoria was the Queen of England) It looks like there are lots of people on the beach and playing in the sand instead of swimming in the sea. They are riding on donkeys and wearing dresses and big coats. There are children riding donkeys as well. They used bathing machines to go into the sea and ate ice cream and built sandcastles in the sand. It looks like they had fun, but on the beach I would not want to wear a big dress and coat because it would be too hot. I would rather wear my unicorn ? swimming costume.

  13. Miss Travers says:

Hello Year 1, I have just read all your messages.
I am so impressed with your answers!
Victorian beaches looked a lot different – they were probably less crowded and less dirty. Today lots of plastic is found in the sea.
People used to go on donkey rides at the beach and the boys and the girls had to go into the sea separately.
They still liked to eat ice cream like we all do too!

  14. The men and women did not go to the same place in the sea. They wore long sleeves there. They road donkeys and horses. They ate different food there like fish and chips (nowadays we don’t eat fish and chips at the beach).

  15. Some of the differences are:

Fewer people at the seaside in the past .
They wore more clothes in the past.
They had very big moustaches in the past.
They went to the seaside in this country.
The sky was grey in the past photograph .
    In the modern photograph
There were more people wearing fewer clothes and more buildings at the seaside. There was also a litter bin on the beach.
The sky was blue so it was probably abroad.
The people were having picnics and sunbathing.

  16. The differences are people were not laying on towels. They sat on the sand. There was donkey ride and a puppet show at the end. Men and women was not allowed together. There were bathing costume rooms pulled by horses.

  17. Hello,
Girls and boy’s weren’t allowed to swim together. I prefer modern holidays because now you can swim together with your family and you don’t need a bathing machine.

  18. In the past they were all dressed up to go to the beach. A horse was carrying them into the sea. But they would eat ice-creams and have fun like today.

  19. The seaside is very hot today and there are lots of people in the sand and the sea. People eat ice cream both today and in the past but today people wear swimming costumes.

  20. Miss Travers says:

Well done everyone! You have found lots of differences between seasides in the past and seasides today.

  21. Hello Miss Travers,
In the olden days, people didn’t have swimming costumes like we do today. They had bathing machines and the women would go in to get changed and a horse pulls them into the sea so no one sees them.
Men and women were not allowed to swim together. They
didn’t have beach umbrellas like we do.
I also noticed that the pictures from the olden days were black and white.

  22. I think my seaside in the past would be dirty because in the past it would be different stuff, not much water and not people.
