Hello Class 4!

Today we are going to continue our Religious Education topic – Building Bridges

People get lost when they deliberately do something wrong, hurting others, themselves or the world they live in.  That is what is called ‘sin’.  It is anything deliberately chosen – to think, say or do.  It is also anything you choose to do or not to do that spoils or breaks the friendship with God and with other people.  Sin is anything which breaks bridges of love.

Christians try to build bridges towards one another every day.  They ‘examine their consciences’ to see how they have kept these two commandments. Our conscience is like a voice or feeling inside us.  This is the Holy Spirit helping us to respond to God.  If we pay attention to the Holy Spirit, it will help us to know if something is good or bad.  It is good to think every evening, before you go to bed, about how you have built bridges of love and friendship or, perhaps, broken them through sin.  We remember if we have done something that hurt someone else or if someone else has hurt us.  We can thank God for all the good and say sorry for the bad and know that God, like the good shepherd, cares about us and loves us.  We also must try to forgive those who have hurt us.

What does “examine your conscience” mean? When is it good to think about it? What will it lead us to do?
Which is easier – to love God or to love your neighbour. Is there a difference?
Why do you think the love of God and our neighbour is so important?
What would be another commandment?

Your task…

† Using  the title ‘Building Bridges’ explore through any medium how Christians can build ‘bridges’ of friendship and goodness through their thoughts and actions.  Give examples and make links to relevant Scripture.

‘Explore through any medium’ means you can present your work how you wish. You might want to show it in writing. Through a poster using writing and pictures or you could even write a poem/story about building bridges. The choice is yours but remember you must clearly show how Christians can build ‘bridges’ of friendship and goodness through their thoughts and actions.

I look forward to seeing your work!
From Miss Lee 🙂

Christians can pray three times a day for a starter, and if they want to be extra close to god, they can learn more about god and if they want to feel the presence by god, you can talk to the people and say,”i will walk by faith, even when I cannot see.”or,”trust in the lord whith all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” and if you really want to embrace god with all your heart and strength, and soul, and even whith all your mind, stand up to the lord and say,”when fear knocks me on the door,I will send faith to answer.”.

  35. The Christians built a bridge to reflect and the holy spirit could help them and us and that you could believe.

  36. Good ideas Karter, how can the Holy Spirit help us?

  37. Building bridges means to me that if you are not friends you have got to think about your differences and try to link them together and when you meet in the middle you make friends. if you have hurt someone’s feelings, you break a bridge, then you have to ask your conscience if you have done something wrong and how you can fix it. Then you have to work to rebuild the bridge.

  38. This is a fantastic and very reflective answer William! I am very impressed well done!

  39. Good afternoon miss Lee,
Building Bridges can be made by being pardon and doing what you think God would do. You have to truly feel sorry and if you have a new friend you shouldn’t be happy with the person because you can play games, you have to have friendship. You have to love one another. You have to care for the person and not leave your friend behind, otherwise you do not have true friendship.

I am gonna do a story inspired by the one shown from the Bible and the piece of scripture given on the blog.
I hope you enjoy reading it.

  40. Miss Lee says:

    Good afternoon Stella!
Good point about truly feeling sorry, that means you will learn from your mistakes and not do them again!
I really look forward to reading your story!

  41. Paolo ??? says:

I really enjoy making posters but always forget to sign my work… ?

  42. Miss Lee says:

I am glad you enjoy making posters… You are very good at making them! Oh no, next time you need to make a poster I will put a reminder on the blog to tell everyone to sign their work (although you can only put your first name for internet safety reasons)!

Apologies that your comments only showed up today! They were hiding in the spam folder, I think lots of people were posting at the same time as you and so the website could not send them all to me! Well done for all of your hard work!

  45. Tijne Reek says:

    Hi Miss,
You can build bridges by being kind, respect each other and be helpful to Anyone who needs help. Try to treat other people in the same way you want them to treat you. And if your conscience tells you that you have done something wrong, just be honest and say sorry.
    Thanks, Tijne

  46. Miss Lee says:

    Hello Tijne!
These are lovely ideas, thank you for sharing! It is always important to show kindness and respect to each other!

  47. Hello again miss this is my story,
Once upon a time was a little girl called Isabelle. She went at St. Vicent primary school for a long time now. She had 3 friends from Nursery. Now she was in year 5. At the beginning of the year a new girl came to the school. The teacher spotted the girl. She was walking round the playground very lonely. The teacher asked Isabelle if she could play with Lyla.
“Isabelle, do you want to play with Lyla?”questioned the teacher.
“I can’t, because I don’t know Lyla!”replied Isabelle. “Do you love God?” Asked miss. “Yes I do with all my heart.”answered the young girl. “Very good. That is really important as it is the most important command given by Jesus. Though the second command is to love your neighbors. So you must love her.”explained miss Roberts. “Maybe, though she is not my neighbor. I’m not even sure if she lives in the same street as me miss. “ added Isabelle.
“Don’t you remember that in class we learned that God is our father and that everyone living in planet earth is his children?” Reminded miss Roberts. “Oh yes I remember now. We even got to do a play!” Remembered Isabelle. “Exactly!”said the teacher.
She explained to Isabelle that a neighbor can be someone who you really love and you care for with all your heart exactly like God.But in life every one are neighbors because we are all brothers and sisters.
Like you should always love your brothers and sisters well everyone you see in the streets, at school, from the park and in every other place you can go or visit. That is why you should be friends with everybody. “Especially those who are feeling lonely.”added Isabelle and with these words she zoomed to Ly la and suggested to be her friend. From that day she always had a friend. In fact, she probably had to many…
“You can never have to much friends!”yelled Isabelle over a crowd of overjoyed people.

    The END

  48. Miss Lee says:
