This week we’re going to look at a different big question for RE. Remember that these questions often require a lot of thinking and discussing, so talk to your family and talk to your friends on the blog. Other people’s answers might make you think about something else.

In RE, we are learning about Lent and Easter, and all the opportunities we have each day to do good.

This week’s big question is:

Why does Easter matter to Christians?

Try to think about all the reasons that Easter is so important. What do we learn from each part of the Easter story? Which disciples and other Bible characters can we learn from or relate to?

Good ideas girls. Why do you think it is important for us that Jesus died?

  5. Miss Carruthers says:

How did he save our lives?

  6. Dear Miss Carruthers,
I think Jesus died to pay for all our sins. This is why Easter is important to us.

  7. Miss Carruthers says:

I agree Marie. What does it mean that Jesus ‘paid for all our sins’?

  8. I think it means that all the bad things we did were forgiven.

  9. Miss Carruthers says:

That’s a really clear explanation Marie, well done.

  10. Easter matters to Christians because it is about a special time when Jesus died on the cross forgiving everyone. Three days after he had died his grave was empty and he was seen alive again. He did that so we could go into heaven if we follow God‘s rules (for example being kind to each other).

Well done Sophia. You have explained this so clearly.

  12. We learn from Jesus dying at Easter that we don’t need to be scared about dying.
We also learn about Judas, the disciple who betrayed Jesus.
Jesus forgives him in the Easter story so we also learn to forgive others like he did.
