Good morning Class 4! β˜€οΈ

Firstly, well done to everyone for continuing to check the blog and have a go at each of the tasks! You are all amazing!

Secondly, apologies I have had some technical difficulties so it is a slightly different challenge today, hopefully the answers for yesterday’s challenge can go up soon! I will post who got them correct so keep checking back!

So today’s challenge is…

Can you make the number 683 using these numbers:

25, 3, 6, 9, 2 and 3

You can you add, subtract, multiply and divide. For example 2 times 9 is 18, then you could do 18 times 25 to get 450 ?

Let’s see who can get the closest to the number 683. I wonder if anyone will get exactly 683?

Good luck! πŸ˜€

From Miss Lee

  1. Hi Miss Lee!
Did I have to use only one times each number or not?
    6+3=9 6-2=4
    9X9=81 4X6=24
    81+2=83 24X25=600
    83+600=683

  2. 25 times 9=225 times 3=675+6+2=683

  3. Miss Lee says:

Well done for reaching the target number! However, you have not used the second number 3!

  4. Good morning ,

    I have managed to get to 683. Here are my workings;

    – 9 times 3 = 27
    – 27 times 25 = 675
    – 675 + 6 + 2 = 683

This is how I got my answer- 683.

  5. Miss Lee says:

You have not used the second number 3! But you did reach the target number so well done!

  6. 25Γ—9=225
    225Γ—3=675
    675+6=681
    681+3=684
    684-2=682
682 is the closest that I got to 683

  7. Miss Lee says:

Well done for using all of the numbers! 1 away! You were SO close!

  8. 6×9=54+25=79×9=648+25=673+9=682

  9. Miss Lee says:

Good work Alfred, however you have used the 25 twice!

  10. Hello Miss Lee
    25×9=225
    6:3=2
    225+2=227
    227×3=681
    681+2=683

  11. Miss Lee says:

Good work Martin! You have used all 6 numbers!

  12. Step1
    25 x 9=225

    Step2
    225 x 3=675

    Step 3
    6+2=8

    Step 4
    675+8(step3)=683

    Answer 683

  13. Miss Lee says:

Great work Ajay! However, you have not used all of the numbers!

  14. Good morning Miss Lee & class,?
    ✍?
    My answer:
    25×9=225
    225×3=675
    675+2×3=681

  15. Miss Lee says:

    Well done, so close!

  16. I forgot

    25×9=225
    225×3=675
    675+6+2=683!!!??

  17. Miss Lee says:

Well done for a second attempt! You made it! However… you have not used all of the numbers!

  18. my answer is 683 because i did 9×3=27 then 27 x 25 = 675 +3=678 +3= 681+2 =683

  19. Miss Lee says:

Great work Nina but you have used too many number 3’s! There are only two available!

  20. I got to it!
    25×9=225
    225×3=675
    675+6=681
    681+2=683 πŸ™‚

  21. Miss Lee says:

Good work Rafael! However you have not used all of the numbers!

  22. Hi Miss Lee!?
    My answer is 683 because:
    25 x 9= 225
    225×3=675
    675+6+2=683
(The highest number I could make was 8220)

  23. Miss Lee says:

Well done Vincent, but you have not used all of the numbers! Great idea to challenge yourself to see which was the highest number you could make! πŸ˜€

  24. Hello Miss Lee and everyone,
The closest I could get with all my tries is …..
    25 x 9 x 3 = 675
    then 675 + 6 = 681
    then 681 +3 = 684, and
    684 – 2 = 682.
This uses all the numbers ?, but is 1 out from 683 ?

  25. Miss Lee says:

    Hello! πŸ˜€
    Great work Lucy! SO close!

  26. Good morning Miss Lee ?
    Here are my answers:

    1. 25Γ—3=75Γ—9=675+6+2=683
    2. 3Γ—9=27Γ—25=675+6+2=683
    I hope its right ??

  27. Miss Lee says:

    Hello Clare πŸ™‚
Well done for getting to the target number, however you have not used all of the numbers!

  28. 25×6=150
    6-2=4
    150×4=600
    3+6=9
    9×9=81
    600+81+2=683

  29. Miss Lee says:

Great work Pablo, but you have not used all of the numbers!

  30. Stella year4 says:

    My answers are:
    25×9=225×2=450
    3×6=18×3=54
    54+450=504

  31. Miss Lee says:

Good try Stella! You were not far off!

  32. 9×3=27×25=135+144=1675-1000=675+10=685-2=683

  33. Miss Lee says:

Well done Holly, but some of the numbers you have used are not from the numbers given!

  34. hello miss lee:)
my closest number to 683 is…
    675!!!
I came up with this by..
first I started off with the biggest number first. And I knew it would be
25 on the list you put on.So I put down 25 on my piece of paper.
and then, the biggest method was x’s.so I looked for the 2nd biggest number, and that was 9. so I wrote down 25 x 9 and I came up with…
    225!!
so theni did 225 x 3 because if you want to save the 6 for the last sum, you need to find a different number. so I chose 3. so once again, I used x’s.so I did 225 x 3 which I came up with….
    665!!!
but I thought, maybe I could make even 683 itself!!! so I tried using the one I saved up for, 6. So I did 675 x 6, and thats where it got too high. so I thought,”just leave it, no bother having it so high.”

    and that’s my number!!!

thanks miss lee and classmates πŸ™‚

  35. Miss Lee says:

    Hello Amarissa!
Some good ideas! Don’t forget you can use a mixture of multiply, divide, add and subtract, you don’t have to just pick one!
For example, instead of doing 675 x 6 you could have done 675 +6 = 681 and then you would be even closer to the target number! πŸ˜€

  36. 25 x 9=225
    225 x 3 =675
    675+6=681
    681+2=683.

  37. Miss Lee says:

Good work Holly, but you have not used all of the numbers!

  38. My answer is
    683 Because 25×9=225 Then 225 x 3=675 Then 675+6=681 Then 681+2= 683

  39. Miss Lee says:

Well done William, however you have not used all of the numbers!

  40. 6*9=54
    54*25=1350
    1350/2=675
    675+3+3=681

Paolo with the help of Carlo and Mum

  41. Miss Lee says:

Great work Paolo! And lovely to see you worked as a team with your mum and brother πŸ˜€
Well done for getting so close to the target number and for using all of the numbers!

  42. Another possibility is

    9*3=27
    27*25=675
    675+6+2=683 yeeeeeh

If we are not allowed and we have to use all of them
    675+6+3-2=682

  43. Miss Lee says:

Good try! You got it correct but you do need to use all of the numbers I’m afraid!

  44. Miss Lee says:

    Hi everyone,
I have had lots of answers for this post. Don’t forget, I will approve them later this afternoon so that everyone can have a go without seeing each others’ answers!
It is great that so many of you have had a go at this challenge and even asked your brothers, sisters, parents and other family members to have a go too! πŸ˜€

    25×9=225
    225×3=675
    675+6=681
    681+2=683
    Bye, Tijne

  46. Miss Lee says:

    Hello Tijne!
Well done for reaching the target number πŸ˜€ however, you do need to use all of the numbers!

  47. Raimundo says:

Hello, Miss Lee, The closest number to 683 is 681 this is how I got it:
    25×3=75
    75×9=675
    6-3=3
    3×2=6
    675+6=681
(The Question was very similar to a show called countdown)

  48. Miss Lee says:

Hello Raimundo! You’re right! This is very similar to Countdown! πŸ˜€
Well done, you were SO close to the target number!
