    This Morning I answered the daily Maths Challenge and this is my answer below:

    The book has 221 pages.
    42 of the digits are a 5.
    ???

  2. Page 1 to page 9 = 9 digits.
    Page 10 to page 99=198 digits.
    198 digits + 9 digits = 207 digits.
    Page 100 to page 199 = 300 digits.
    300 digits + 207 digits = 507 digits.
    Page 200 to page 215 = 48 digits.
    507 digits + 48 digits = 555 digits.

    There are 215 pages.
    43 of them are fives.

    42 numbers 5’s in the book.

  6. Hello everyone! I hope your day has been good so far. For today’s task I got these results.

    1) The book has 221 pages.
    Explanation:
    1 – 99 = 99 digits
    100 – 555 = 368 digits ÷ 3 = 122.6
    122.6 + 99 = 221.6

    2) There are 42 ‘5’ in 221 pages
    Explanation:
    There are 20 ‘5’ in every hundred: 5, 15, 25, 35, 45, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54 …
    In the numbers 55 and 155 there are two ‘5’ and you count both.

    I found this challenge extremely hard. This is how it felt ??????????????????????????????

  7. Hello Mrs Avdiu and Ms Robertson, I hope your having a good Friday ?
    For today’s maths challenge, I came up with these answers:
    1. Jack’s book has a total of 278 pages. I divided 555 by 2 ( as there are 2 sides on each page) and got 277 remainder 1, which means 278 pages ( one side is blank).
    2. There are 151 pages with the digit 5 . I found this out by counting pages with the digit 5 in every hundred pages. This came up to 19 pages which I multiplied by 5 (up to page 499). 19 x 5 =95. I then added 56 (pages from 500 to 555) and the total of this was 151.

    I hope that all of you are well. These are the answers I got for today’s math challenge:

    * In Jack’s book there are 273 pages.
    * In Jack’s book 16 of the digits are 5.
