Word Types – Adverbs

Adverbs are words that describe verbs. Adverbs often end with ly. They can tell you how, when and how often the verb was done.

Examples
The choir sang loudly.
He played quietly.
I’ll see you later.
I never eat beans.

Task

Write down which of these words are adverbs:
1. always            slowly            gently            daisy            sad            teddy            next            then

Write down the adverbs in the sentences below:
2. The guests will arrive soon.
3. The dog playfully licked my nose.
4. He rarely goes to London.
5. The children greedily ate the chocolate.
6. Ivy always drives Mike to the shops.
7. Maya accidentally fell and grazed her arm.

Complete the sentences below using the correct adverb.

  17. Sorry, the word daisy is confusing because I planned it not to write daisy but then I forgot ; ) .
