A parenthesis is a word or phrase that is inserted into a sentence to add more information. A parenthesis can be placed in brackets or between dashes or commas.

Example 1: Arthur (the dog next door) often barks early in the morning.

Example 2: My son – second from the right – is  running in the final at school.

Example 3:  Frank, I think, sings brilliantly.

Parenthesis can refer to brackets themselves.

Can you write three super sentences that include a parenthesis?

Please proof-read your response before submitting (check punctuation, spelling and grammar).

We look forward to reading your responses,
