Good Morning Class 4!

Well done for getting back into home learning this week. It has been great to hear from you all again!

Today we are looking at some spelling and handwriting.

Below is a list of spelling words.

1.) Please practise these at home in your yellow home learning book. You could write them in your book using look, cover, say and write. Or you could read the list of words and ask someone at home to test you on them.

2.) On the blog, write a definition for two of these words.

3.) On the blog write two sentences using two different words from the list.

If you want some more ideas of how to practise your spellings you could:

  • write the spellings out and cut them up then try rearranging the letters to make the words
  • try writing the words backwards as well as forwards to familiarise yourself with them
  • sounding the word out to help you remember the spelling (for example in-ter-est)

When you are writing these words in your home learning book, try to use neat handwriting. Most of us have been typing on the blog but it is important to make sure we practise our handwriting too!

Top Tips:

Ensure your letters are on the line.

Make sure your letters are the right size (tall letters are tall and small letters are small).

Make sure there is an appropriate sized space between each word (sometimes called finger spaces).

Try to join up your handwriting in each word.

If you are looking for a challenge, you could revisit the Shakespeare Project website here. There is a crossword and word search which you could try to make sure you have remembered what has happened in the story so far. If you have forgotten, why not watch the brilliant video made by the Primary Shakespeare Company again.

Some of you have been asking about the different English blogs so I will post the links at the bottom of each English daily blog so that they are easy for you to find.

The Year 4 Reading Blog – use this to tell us about the books you are reading and also to see what your friends have been reading. You might see a good suggestion or you might see that someone is reading the same book as you! On this blog you can reply to each other, asking your friends questions about their books.

Wondrous Writing Blog – Here is where your longer pieces of writing are. You might want to read work from your classmates or type up some of your own creations!
