Good Morning Year 6! Wednesday already…does anyone else agree that week’s seem to fly by at the moment?

Today we’re going to practise some spellings and our handwriting. We’re looking at words from the Year 5 and 6 spelling (click here)-I’m sure that you’re missing that!

This website helps to learn how to spelling these words and has some games you can practise.

Have a look at the words below, practise writing them in your book and then, If you can, ask your sibling or parent to test you!

How many did you get right?

Challenge:

On the Blog, write a short paragraph including all of the words above.  Plan your sentences first to ensure that they makes sense before publishing it!

When you’re practising your handwriting, remember to start and finish your letters in the right place, sit the letters on the line and remember which ones are tall and which ones hang below the line.

    Here’s my sentence!

My curiosity determined me to develop in my studies.

    Chapter 8 prediction:

I think the king will try to kill Neelan but Chaya will save him.

  2. Miss Gorick says:

Well done Aryan 🙂 I hope you are enjoying the book so far!

  3. Miss Gorick says:

Hi Gaspard 🙂 I have just received your writing. I have attached your work to last Friday’s blog and added my feedback there.

  4. Good morning!

I think that after this, Chaya will try to get into the palace to rescue Neel, maybe with Nour helping her. I also think that this plan will have something to do with an elephant (maybe stealing one, as the title suggests).

  5. Miss Gorick says:

    Hmm interesting prediction…we will see!

  6. Good morning,
    Here’s my paragraph:

As I was desperate, my conscious helped me be determined to stop the controversy. It was soon definite that my determination and curiosity helped.

My prediction is that Neel will get locked up before his execution and then Chaya and Nour will try to save him with the help of Chaya’s father.

  7. Miss Gorick says:

Great effort Luke and an interesting prediction!

  8. Hello everyone this is my paragraph,
Yesterday i was determined to criticise the restaurant i ate at,writing a letter of disappointment . It was definite that the chef needed to develop his pizza making it better and nicer. It was also clear he was desperate and sad. So my curiosity pushed me to investigate although on the controversy my conscience told me not to.In the end i found out the truth and it was a big convenience because everything became clear;I found out the cook had no oven to cook the pizza in and was taking so long because he was using a microwave although it doesn’t explain why my tomatoes were expired.

  9. Miss Gorick says:

Well done Jade-a super effort! I like that you linked yesterday’s letter to your writing 🙂 Remember I on its own should be I not i.

  10. Jeanne Yr 6 says:

    Good morning,
    Here is my paragraph:

It was convenient that she was desperate to correspond with the people in charge of the development of medicines. Her curiosity and determination would help her find a definite solution for the needy.

  11. Miss Gorick says:

Morning Jeanne 🙂 I really like your paragraph and it is very relatable to life at the moment.

  12. Good morning Miss Gorick and Mrs Healy,
I hope your not missing us tooooo much 🙂
I think the next thing Chaya will do is that she will once again break into the castle (Nour may follow her?) to save Neel. Then i think some guards may spot her and she steels the kings elephant to get away bringing Neel (and Nour) with her.

  13. Miss Gorick says:

Hi Jade! Of course we are missing you lots! I hope you are still singing away to Mamma Mia!

    Interesting prediction…we will see.

  14. Good morning Miss Gorick and Mrs Healy!
    Here is my sentence:

I was determined to let my curiosity run free at the museum, conscious not to disturb anyone.

  15. Miss Gorick says:

Morning Jada! A good effort well done. To make it clearer I think you need a conjunction instead of the comma. Have another look 🙂

  16. gabriel:p says:

Yesterday I was very desperate, but then I was conscious that I had to find a solution and was determined to find a definite answer that corresponds to my question.

  17. Miss Gorick says:

Gosh that is quite a mouthful but a very good effort-well done Gabriel!

  18. ??GABRIEL:p says:

I think Chaya will try to rescue Neel, but gets caught, and so Chaya and Neel steal an elephant and run away from the city and village.

  19. Miss Gorick says:

An interesting prediction-surely the title must describe the next event..!?

  20. Last year, I began my biggest project in the A.C.C (Artificial Computing Centre) my mission was to develop the worlds most advanced A.I. I was determined, as well as desperate to prove the people who criticise me wrong. During my early days of work and research I did meet one person who could correspond with me, and we became great workmates though with others it was a heat of controversy. My curiosity of computers gave me a definite feeling of success, there was also a great convenience at the time of the start of my project, as my workmate had started making the same programme to.

After reading Chapter 8 I think that next, Neel will be put up for an execution and the Chaya will have to save him.

  21. Miss Gorick says:

Morning Susan, thank you for such a lengthy paragraph! Your prediction is a little scary…

  22. Elly(●'◡'●) says:

Good Morning Miss Gorick and Mrs Healy,
    Here is my paragraph;
I was definitely determined to follow my conscience and correspond within the conversation. I bet everyone was desperate to her my controversy but instead everyone started to criticise it. I am definite about my decision to develop children’s playgrounds in London to make them less full of litter.

  23. Elly(●'◡'●) says:

    Also Miss Gorick,
    I am really enjoying this book and here is my prediction;
I think that Chaya will go and try to save er best friend Neel. I not exactly sure, but not much has been linked to the title so I think that Nour will follow Chaya into the palace where Neel is, but Nour will also get Chaya caught by accident. Then Chaya will have to steel an elephant so that they wont get thrown into the dungeon of the palace.

  24. Miss Gorick says:

Morning Elly, it is lovely to hear from you. Thank you for writing your paragraph and I’m glad to hear that you are enjoying the book! Great prediction 🙂

  25. Good morning,
    Here is my sentence:
I was determined to develop my skills on reading because my curiosity was desperate to know what happens next to Chaya.
    My prediction:
I think that Chaya is going to save Neel and blame herself but while she does that she thinks of an escape plan that includes stealing the kings elephant.

  26. Miss Gorick says:

Hi Javier ? That is an interesting prediction. I hadn’t thought about how Chaya would feel.

  27. Mrs Healy says:

    Cant wait to read on.

  28. ♡ Haleema ♡ says:

    Good afternoon,
My prediction is that Chaya stands up in front of a large crowd and tells everyone she is the one who stole the jewels.

  29. Miss Gorick says:

That would be brave, but honest!

  30. There was a desperate curiosity throughout the crowd, and we couldn’t determine why. He was keen to develop his restaurant despite being criticised. There was such controversy about it and he was conscious of the risk he was taking. Will his restaurant correspond to his dream? Or will he create it just for convenience?

My prediction is that Neel will be set free with the help of Chaya and Nour.

  31. Miss Gorick says:

Hi Anahi 🙂 I like that you have included questions in your paragraph and a great prediction!

  32. Sergio ;) says:

    Hello,
    Here is my paragraph:
I was conscious of time and full of curiosity of what the answer could be. When I got my results,I was determined to develop my writing. I knew everyone would be desperate to criticise my definite failure.

  33. Miss Gorick says:

    Great effort Sergio!

  34. Hello,
I think Chaya will try to save Neelan and probably escape, perhaps this is where the elephant comes in.

  35. Miss Gorick says:

    Interesting prediction…

  36. ?Maryana? says:

    Hi Miss here’s mine
I am determined to develop a curiousity machine which makes you curious all the time. Many people my criticise the plan but it does bother me whatsoever!

  37. Miss Gorick says:

    Well done Maryana 🙂
