Hello Class 4! Well done for doing some fantastic writing yesterday to start your newspaper reports!

Click here to go to yesterday’s blog to read your feedback.

Some things to remember, as a reporter, you must remember you were not at the event that took place. You probably investigated what happened by talking to eye witnesses. You are now writing the report to tell your readers about the event and inform them of the facts. You should not use phrases such as ‘I think…’ as reporters should stay unbiased (that means they do not share their opinions or views on the event). You should also make sure you do not write in the first person (so avoid using words like ‘I’ and ‘we’).

I would advise you to look at the planning template and writing template below. Even if you don’t use them, just looking through them will help you to see how to structure your report.

This handy checklist may also help:

But also don’t forget to ask for help if you need it!

Try to write your report on paper so that you can set it out accurately but if you prefer then you may also use the blog to type it up.

One tip – I know reporters usually write their first and last names on their reports but if you just write your first name then I can upload it onto the website straight away. If you write both I will have to edit the work to blank out your surname as you shouldn’t share your full name online.

I look forward to reading your work!

Have a wonderful Half Term! You have all worked so hard and deserve a rest, so enjoy!

  5. THE MASTER WEDDING
The Master Wedding of Ferdinand and Miranda took place on an island at midday. The many guests Prospero, Caliban, Trinculo, Stephano and the wedding spirits danced and cheered happily for the celebration as the couple united.

Last week on a sandy beautiful island a big event had happened. People were wearing their finest clothes on that amazing sunny day.the many guests and friends came to the wedding and everyone was celebrating and dancing in happiness. The couple had walked down the isle and they both had big smiles on there faces. They were the perfect couple together.

Miranda had said, “This was the most rememberable and happiest day of her life.” She was delighted. Ferdinand had said, “He was happy to be within woman and would never forget this day.” Some of the guests said, “This magical day has filled the air with love.”

As the day ended, everyone started to dance and cheer for Miranda and Ferdinand in hopes that would live a happy life.

  6. Miss Lee says:

A fantastic newspaper report Ajay! You have clearly written about what happened on the day and used quotes from the guests to add extra information! Great work!
Next time, just make sure you carefully check spelling of homophones, for example ‘there’ and ‘their’
    Also ‘rememberable’ should be ‘memorable’
Have a lovely half term! ?

    HAUTE COUTURE WASHING LINE

Yesterday some fabulous clothes ??appeared by magic on a washing line in a remote island ?

    by Paolo, Travel correspondent @paolo

In a faraway island with lots of trees, caves and a lovely beach, that seemed deserted, yesterday a cave was gleaming! There are rumors that people were trying on the most extraordinary clothes. The jackets were made of velvet with gold fur all around the neck and also real gold buttons. They were all hanging on washing lines. It seems that the clothes disappeared after few minutes and that suddenly there was no gleaming light anymore but just the normal darkness of a cave, with a clear – so witnesses said – barking of dogs.
The witnesses spoke to Stephano and Trinculo and also a weird guy called Caliban. Stephano and Trinculo were the ones who tried on the clothes and Caliban was the one trying to explain them that this was the work of a Spirit. They said though “we have never tried clothes better than those!”.
Another man on the island, called Prospero, claims that he did all this with his magic.

For more details on the news, read The Tempest by William Shakespeare or watch it at the theatre.

  8. Miss Lee says:

Brilliant work Paolo! You have worked so hard on this, well done! You have remembered to include the date, a headline, the leading paragraph and your name as the reporter! You have used some quotes to add extra information and your writing informs the reader of what happened! Well done!
Next time, remember to try and keep your writing unbiased. For example “weird guy called Caliban” may be seen as an opinion rather than fact.

  21. The Island News
    By travel correspondent Vincent ABC@outlook.com

On a deserted island, two shipwrecked humans were chased by vicious hounds, the size of wolves ? when they put on some clothes fit for a king, which had appeared mysteriously in a cave.

The two people concerned and a monster were plotting to kill Prospero, duke of Milan and were heading to his cave when they saw a washing line with clothes that royals would wear appear suddenly. The monster tried (and failed) to stop the other two putting on the clothes because he correctly suspected that it was a trap by saying “it is but trash!”.

Once they had put the clothes on, the island was plunged into darkness and the two who put on the clothes were chased away by hounds the size of wolves?. Hound Sam said “grrr” while hound bob said “ruff!”

No one knows if the victims are still alive, but if they are they will probably be very injured.?

  22. Miss Lee says:

Hi Vincent, well done for writing so much! I am very impressed! You have made sure you informed the reader of the main events and kept your writing unbiased by not including your own thoughts and opinions! You have also included a headline, the date, your name as the reporter and quotes from witnesses (I found the quotes from the wolves very amusing!).
Next time, make sure you avoid writing sentences that are too long as this can make it difficult for the reader to follow what you have written. Use punctuation carefully.
