Good Morning, Nursery.

I hope that you all had a lovely half term holiday.

You have all been working very hard in phonics. We are going to be practicing hearing and saying the sounds that we have learnt at the beginning of words.

Look at the pictures and say the words; sun, astronaut, tiger.

Can you hear and say the sound at the beginning of each word?

Can you do the action for the sounds?

Can you think other words that also begin with the sounds?

Can you find the sounds on the phonics mat?

Practice writing today’s sounds in the air and on the table with your finger.  You can also write the sounds on your laminated card using a whiteboard pen or on paper using pen, crayons, paint or pencil.

I can’t wait to hear all about your phonics today.

  1. Hi Everyone, Grace went through s, a and t and made the sounds and actions. We thought of Sand, salt, snake, Apple, ants, arm and Train, tree, towel and table.
    She looked at the phonics mat and said the sounds and the actions. She needed reminding of the actions for W and X. She has written out her big and little letters on her laminated sheet :))

  2. Great effort by Caspian today Miss Siswick he seems very focused and ready for any challenge I believe the half term break was a good boost .

  3. Ania recognizes the letters and sounds and also found the letters them on the phonic mats.

  4. Hello Miss Siswick,

    Fiadh heard the sounds sssss, aaaa, tttt for the 3 pictures. She found each letter on the phonics mat and named 2 other words for each sound. Fiadh practiced writing the letters on her laminated card.

    Alexander was able to say the sound at the beginning and actions of the words. He did the action sounds and correctly identified the sounds on the phonics mat.

    Other words he thought of were:
    S – Sunglasses
    A – Apple
    T – Table

    Adelaide found out the following words:

    Stefani, Sugar, Sun, Snake
    Ant, Arm, Airplane and of course Adelaide!
    Tomato, Tail, Toothpaste and Toothbrush

    She enjoys to practice the phonics and always when she does it she remembers all her friends from Nursery!

    Anna was able to answer the question and was happy to practice writing the letters.

    Nicolas was fine with finding the sounds on the sound map. He was able to identify s but needed help with the other two to recognise the sound.
