Good Morning, Reception.

I hope that you all had a lovely half term.

Well done for all of your hard work in Maths last term.

Today, I would like you to play your favourite board game with a grown up. It can be any game but it must be one where you use dice.

Play the game as you would normally play it but for each turn, roll 2 dice.

Can you recognise how many spots there are on each dice without counting them all?

Can you count on to add the 2 numbers?

Can you shout, ‘Double!’ every time you roll two of the same number?

Can you double the numbers when you roll a double?

If you have time to play the game more than once, you could record how many times each person won.

Have fun! I am looking forward to hearing all about your favourite games.

Love from Miss Siswick.(I will be at school so I will not be able to respond until  later today.)

PRINTABLE VERSION:R Maths Monday

It would really help me if you could upload photos  straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.

  1. Good morning Miss, I love playing a board game named Les Petits Chevaux. Each of the 4 players have to take his 4 horses out of the stables and bring them all the way to the end.

  2. Amber Jackson says:

Amber and I played snakes and ladders. We had to make our own dice and use an online snakes and ladder board games. Amber was fine at doubling but hesitated more when we got to 6 so we practised and practised until we could double 7,8, 9 and 10. She got it using her fingers.

Rocco had fun rolling the dice- he enjoyed it much more than writing !!

He was very good recognising the spots without counting , adding the 2 numbers and shouting double
