Good Morning, Nursery.

Well done for your hard work in Phonics yesterday.

This week, we are practicing rhyming.   Words that rhyme have different beginning sounds but the rest of the word sounds the same.

Each day, read some rhyming books with a grown up or read some traditional and modern Nursery Rhymes here: http://www.wordsforlife.org.uk/songs

Can you say these three rhyming words?

Can you and an adult take it in turns to say words that rhyme with cat to make a rhyming string? How many words can you think of? They don’t have to be real words!

You could write different beginning sounds to make lots of words that rhyme with cat.

You could even make up your own rhyming song about a cat like the big pig song!

I can’t wait to hear about your rhyming today.

Love from Miss Siswick. (I will be teaching at school so I will not be able to respond until  later today.)

It would really help me if you could upload photos  straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.

She was a cat and she was fat, she wore a hat and chased a rat, she got a pat when she sat on the mat, she was a big fat cat! We are singing it to the tune of the big pig song!

  29. Dear Miss Siswick,

Anna is enjoying the rhymes and she will write letters sounds next to the ig and at ending when asked to but I am not sure she is understanding that by adding for example the letter b to ig ending we are making the word big. We will keep trying.

    Greetings

  30. Miss Siswick says:

I am glad that you are enjoying the rhymes, Anna. Don’t worry about the writing if it isn’t,t helping you to make rhyming strings.Maybe Mummy and Marie could take turns at saying words that rhyme with cat so that you can listen.
