Good Morning, Nursery.

I am glad that so many of you enjoyed listening to ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ on Tuesday.

Today, we are focussing on  another traditional tale about three animals-The Three Little Pigs.

You can read the book if you have it or listen to it here:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Die6creYS9s

Then choose your favourite character from the story and tell an adult all about them.

Next, can you build a house for a pig that the wolf can’t blow down?

Once you have built the house, you could test if  by blowing it with a hairdryer and pretending that it is the wolf huffing and puffing!

Was your house strong enough? If it wasn’t, try to build a stronger one.

You could also use toys to retell the story or act it out.

You could create a picture of the characters.

I am looking forward to hearing all about it.

Love from Miss Siswick.

PRINTABLE VERSION:N Topic Thursday

It would really help me if you could upload photos  straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.

  1. Nicolas says:

    Good morning Miss Siswick,

I loved the story. My favourites were the two boys (Nicolas; “I be the two boys, Sophia is the girl and daddy can be the wolf”). We plan to build our house of Duplo bricks. Photo to follow.

    Many greetings from Nicolas

  2. Miss Siswick says:

Good morning, Nicolas. I am looking forward to seeing your strong house.

  3. Adelaide says:

    Good morning,

Adelaide loves this story. Her favourite character is the third pig, because ‘I was her’! It’s a girl, she built a big big brick house. With bricks, the big bad wolf couldn’t blow the house down. The big bad wolf got an idea and climbed on the chimney and jumped back to his home. That’s because the third pig put a fire in the chimney.

Adelaide built a house of pillows, but that wasn’t strong enough and the big bad wolf blew it down but she then ran to a house made by a table with boxes and hard pillows and this one was strong enough.

  4. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Adelaide. You kept on trying until you built a house that was strong enough to withstand the big bad wolf!

  5. victoire says:

Hello, The little pigs and their mom because the mom is worried for her sons. A brick house because it is strong enough not to be destroyed by the bear.

  6. Good morning Miss Siswick,

Caspian enjoyed listening and watching the story of the three little pigs.

Caspian said his favourite character is the older pig because he built his house from bricks and defeated the wolf.

  7. Miss Siswick says:

You have built a very strong house, Caspian.

  8. James has listened to the story 3 times just now. He loves this story and laughter so much when the wolf shot out of the chimney on fire. Patrick was his favourite character as he built the house with bricks, the strongest house James said.
James is busy building his house now and we will send a photo as soon as it is completed.

  9. Sam favourite character was the big bad wolf. He knows he had a burnt bottom in the end, but he doesn’t know why he is his favourite. He was wondering what the mummy was doing, was she in the kitchen baking?

  10. Miss Siswick says:

Well done; Victoire, Caspian, James and Sam. I can’t wait to see what you build your strong houses out of!

  11. Hello again, We watched this twice and enjoyed this slightly different version to our TLPigs book. Grace’s favourite character was also the third little pig because “her house was strong and made of bricks. She is clever”. Grace also likes the wolf but thinks “he is naughty”. We will build a house soon and see how strong we can make it.

  12. Alexander says:

    Good morning,

Alexander listened to the story of the 3 little pigs and retold the story with some help

Alexander is now building a house for one of the pigs, we will upload the picture once done.

  13. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Grace and Alexander. I am looking forward to seeing your strong houses.

  14. The wolf is my favourite character because I want that he has fire in his bottom. That is very funny.
And I love when the little pigs say « Not by the hair of my chini chin chin »

  15. My favourite character is the pig who made the strong house of bricks and he put a fire for the big bad wolf who comes down the chimney. Then the wolf goes up the chimney and far away. I don’t like the wolf because he is scary.

  16. Miss Siswick says:

Your house looks very strong and it looks as if you had great fun testing it with the hairdryer!

  17. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Gabriel and Leopold. What are you making your strong houses out of?

  18. Sam built a house made of pillows, tables, blankets and toys. He tried and he tried to blow his house down but it was too strong!

  19. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Sam. Your house was too strong for the big bad wolf!

  20. Hello nursery,

‘I loved the third pig the best because he built a big strong house that the big bad wolf couldn’t blow down at all’

Fiadh is building a house made from duplo.

  21. Ania happily heard the story about three little pigs because she likes her very much. Ania’s favorite character is the third little pig because she built the strongest house. Ania said that she is a very smart little pig.

  22. Nancy Bear says:

Philip tried to include lots of exciting features for the little pig house, balcony, kitchen, windows etc – but he is not so keen on giving it a closed roof which may be a problem for the poor little pig.

  23. Dear Miss Siswick,
Anna’s favourite character was the pig who built the strongest house because the wolf “ won’t break it and he is safe“.
She is building a house with Lego and having fun with it. Thank you.

  24. Just to inform you. James has built a house with lots of Wolf traps and they tried the hairdryer on it. It didn’t blow it down.

  25. Miss Siswick says:

Well done; Fiadh, Ania, Philip and James. I bet the first two pigs in the story wish that they had Lego, Duplo and Magnetic tiles to build their houses like yours.

  26. I really liked The Little Pig story. I really liked the girl pig.
