Good Morning, Nursery.

I loved hearing all of your ideas about the Gingerbread Man on Tuesday.

We have nearly finished our Traditional Tales Topic.

These are the stories that we have learned about:

Which one was your favourite? Why?

Today, I would like you to choose a traditional tale that we haven’t learned about. You could choose one of these or another traditional tale that you know.

It could be a traditional tale from another country or in another language.

Can you listen to it or read it with a grown up and then tell us all about it?

There are lots of ideas for craft activities about traditional tales here if you would like to make something:https://littleangeltheatre.com/schools-and-community/at-home-resources/activities-ages-3-6/

I am looking forward to about lots of different traditional tales today.
Love from Miss Siswick.

PRINTABLE VERSION:N Topic Thursday

It would really help me if you could upload photos  straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.

  1. Alexander says:

    Good morning Ms Siswick!

Alexander has/is really enjoying the traditional tales topic.

His favourite story is Goldilocks and the 3 bears, because baby bear is his favourite character.

Alexander selected to read and re tell the story of Little red riding hood… and did so with some help.

  2. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Alexander. I love the story of Little Red Riding Hood too.

  3. Good morning Miss Siswick,
My favourite was the Gingerbread man because it has a poney and I love poneys.
I chose to read Snow White and the seven dwarfs this morning by the brothers Grimm. I love it because the prince has a white horse.

  4. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Gabriel. Snow White is a great story. I will look out for the white horse when I read it next.

  5. Adelaide says:

Adelaide was having a hard time just choosing one of the stories so she choose three of them!

Jack and the Beanstalk: Adelaide likes Jack because he is funny and loves the Giant too! She would love to be friends with the giant as she is not scared of him.

Three Little Pigs: Adelaide says that she loves this story because all of the pigs have a big and nice house to live in.

Gingerbread Man: Adelaide loves that the mummy is doing the Gingerbread cookies for the kids!

Adelaide choose to read Cinderella and said that what she loves about Cinderella it’s that she is a pretty princess and she is happy because Cinderella is happy!

  6. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Adelaide. I am glad that you like all of the stories.

  7. Jack and the beanstalk was my favourite story because he is brave, this was the first time I was reading this story. It also made me think of the beanstalk that is growing in my kitchen.

My favourite traditional tale is Cinderella. I find her very sweet and beautiful and I really like the happy ending. I recently watched the Disney’s version and I loved it. I was happy to see the prince marry Cinderella rather than the two bossy sisters!

  8. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Hermine. I love your Cinderella picture.

  9. Grace said she loves Hansel and Gretel because she likes the daddy in the book and the children but does not like the step-mother because she is so horrible to H & G.
Hansel and Gretel get lost in the woods and find a house made of sweeties! But in there lives a horrible, bad witch. She is like the step mother. She is so evil she wants to eat Hansel and makes Gretel do lots of cleaning.
Gretel is really, really brave because she pushes the witch into a pot of hot water and that is the end of her! They find their daddy too!

We also decided the T Tale we are not very keen on is Rumpelstiltskin. We don’t think it makes much sense and R is creepy!

  10. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Grace. I agree that Rumpelstiltskin is a very scary traditional tale.

  11. Mrs Rekkas says:

Good morning nursery, my favourite story is Cinderella because she is very kind to everyone also, she is so pretty.

  12. Hello Miss Siswick,

I liked the gingerbread man best because he did lots of running and singing and I like to do both these.

I love to hear Cinderella because she danced with the prince, was beautiful with her blue dress and so kind to the animals like birds and mice.

  13. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Fiadh. Lots of Nursery children like Cinderella today.

  14. I like George and the dragon it’s my favourite because George was very brave he saved the princess and killed the dragon .

  15. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Caspian. St. George and the dragon is a very exciting story.

  16. “The three Billy goats gruff because the big billy goat boofed the troll into the water.”

“This is Enormous Turnip – the farmer is looking at the enormous turnip, he’s pulling it back but it didn’t budge. Then the wife she hugged him and the turnip didn’t budge. So the little boy he went and help, the turnip didn’t budge. The cat went and helped and the turnip budged! It’s big, it’s huge, it’s massive! And then them all went to sleep and they wakes up and he said next year I will make carrots! They had to eat turnip soup. The end!”

  17. Miss Siswick says:

Great retelling of the story, Philip. I think we have that one at school.

  18. Mrs Knowler says:

My favourite traditional tale is called The Magic Porridge Pot. Not many people have heard of it. It is about a bowl that keeps filling up with whatever you put into it. The lady in the book puts in one golden coin, in the morning it is FULL of golden coins! Just imagine the things you could do with it.
    I love Rumplestiltskin too.

  19. Caspian chose to read Hansel and Gretel because he like it .
He told the story nicely. His best part of the story was when the children tricked the witch ?‍♀️ to escape from the gingerbread house ?.

  20. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Caspian. I like that story too.

  21. Hello Miss Siswick,

  22. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Aoife. I haven’t read that book for a long time. I will read it again.

  23. Good afternoon Miss Siswick,

  24. Miss Siswick says:

  27. Victoire says:
