Let’s Dance!

Good morning Year 6 🙂 If you’re like me, staying inside can make you a little restless! Well, today we’re having an ‘At home PE lesson’!

Have you heard of the Ancient Greek myth, ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’?

Watch the video below to remind yourself of this famous story!

Today our lesson is going to be based on a piece of music called ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’.

Warm up

  • Stand with your legs shoulder width apart and take 3 deep breaths.
  • Move your head from left to right and then up and down (gently!). Repeat 4 times.
  • Roll your shoulders forward 5 times
  • Roll your shoulders back 5 times
  • Shake your hands
  • Shake your feet
  • Push your hips out to the left and to the right

Listen to the song- Theseus and the Minotaur.

Decide a suitable starting position that reflects the strength in the song.

Can you move to the beat?

How can you move your body to reflect the sound of the wind?

Decide on 2 or 3 moves or stretches that match the style of the song. Look at the images below for help:

Can you create a sequence that reflects the style of the music?

Let me know how you get on below! You are welcome to work with your siblings or other family members!
