Good Morning, Reception.

Well done for your great Maths work yesterday.

Today, we are going to do some more measuring and comparing.

You can choose from these different ways of using your body for measuring:

Can you measure your bed?

How many steps, hand spans or arm spans is it?
Think about which way might be the easiest before you start.

Can you measure how tall you are?

How many steps, hand spans or arm spans is it?
Think about which way might be the easiest before you start.

Can you measure how far it is from your front door to the bathroom?

How many steps, hand spans or arm spans is it?
Think about which way might be the easiest before you start.

Can you find your own ideas for what to measure and how to measure it?

I am looking forward to hearing all about your measuring today.
Love from Miss Siswick.

PRINTABLE VERSION:R Maths Friday

It would really help me if you could upload photos  straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.

Hello, this was a little harder for us to understand the concept. But we had fun going around the house measuring! We did it with steps.
    Pippa’s bed 11 steps
Pippa is 6 steps. We lay on the floor marked the top and bottom and then use step to measure it.
From the front door to the bathroom is 58 steps.
We also measure our little kitchen station, it is 4 and a half.

I am sorry that I am replying so late again but I was phoning children at home. It has been lovely to speak to so many of you this week and I am looking forward to seeing you soon.
