  3. We had lots of fun counting coins and working out which purse had the correct money. I did this with my dad. James

  4. Miss Siswick says:

    Well done, James.

  5. Good morning Miss,
I finished the maths, but it was sometimes a bit difficult to add the numbers together.

  6. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Maya. Do you remember how to count on to find the answers when you are adding? Look at the Maths blogs from last week to remind you.

  7. Good Morning Miss, I can see 5p,10p,1p,2p. I was able to count up to 20p and my mum help me to count all the rest. I can count 66p. the puzzle was a bit difficult.

  8. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Ruby-Mae. You only need to count the coins in each purse not all the coins together. That will make it easier for you to count on to find the answers.

  9. I am doing some adding with coins.

  10. Miss Siswick says:

    Well done, Moses.

  11. We had a great time again playing shops. We can see 5p, 2p, 1p and 10p coins in the purses.
    5p + 5p + 5p = 15p
    2p + 2p+ 2p+ 2p = 8p
    1p + 1p + 1p + 1p + 5p = 9p
    5p + 5p = 10p
    2p + 2p + 2p + 2p + 10p = 18p
    2p + 2p + 1p + 1p = 6p

We think the answer to the puzzle is the purse with 3 1p coins and a 5p.

  12. Miss Siswick says:

    Well done, Philippa.

  13. Good morning, my favorite character is the frog, because he is wearing a cape and turned into a prince. He is very funny and very kind.

  16. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Chiara, Keep practicing adding by counting on a little bit every day. It will get easier.

  17. Good morning,
Theo can see 1p,2p,10,p,5p coins in the purse.
    5p+5p+5p=15
    5p+5p+10p
    2p+2p+2p+2p=8p
    2p+2p+2p+2p+10=18p
    1+1+1+1+5=9p
    2+2+1+1=6p
Theo really like to play with the money

  18. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Theo. Great money problem solving.

  19. Rosa can identify all coins and now aware that the number/amount of each coin can also be written in text if the actual number is not present.

Beginning to show understanding of concept that the number of coins in each purse does not equate to the total in pence. Rosa practiced adding up using beans to help her total the amount for each purse.

  20. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Rosa. It is tricky so keep looking for the numbers on the coins.

  21. Ryan did this exercise well – it was more challenging when the total went over 10 but he enjoyed it.

    23 Coins (6x1p 10x2p 6x5p 1x10p)
    The answer is purse 3 (4x1p +5p)

  22. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Ryan. I am glad that you enjoyed it even when it got tricky.

  23. Hi Miss Siswick, Juliana liked the activity today and she wants to do it again tomorrow (Juliana’s words!). We have sent you a picture.

  24. Miss Siswick says:

I am glad that you liked the Maths activity today, Juliana. Well done.

  25. Hi, Marcus was able to identify the coins and write out sums for the purse totals.
Today he made a “Thomas the tank engine train shop” and added prices for all the trains to a train list I wrote out. He was able to provide the correct money for his purchases and, some of the time, to work out how much change I should give him back.
If only we could have a shop selling all the Thomas trains, we would make a fortune!! I’m sure Cesar would be a customer! We’ve sent photos…

  26. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Marcus. You have a lot of trains to sell!

  27. (1) 5+5+5=15
    (2) 5+5=10
    (3) 2+2+2+2=8
    (4) 2+2+2+2+10=18
    (5)1+1+1+1+5=9
    (6)1+1+2+2=6

The fifth purse is the answer.

  28. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Tim. You have solved the puzzle.

  29. Mikey enjoyed this

  30. Miss Siswick says:

    I am glad, Mikey.

  31. A more challenging exercise that Amber eventually understood until we got to 18! We practised and she understood (I hope).
Lots of fun doing the guess the purse quizzes.
    I’m sending her homework now.

  32. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Amber. You kept trying even when it got challenging. I am glad that the puzzle was fun.

  33. I did the exercise this morning and we had such fun in playing at the shop again that we have forgotten to send what I did. Oups ? . Work sent now.

  34. Miss Siswick says:

  36. Luca enjoyed the maths today and did the exercise and puzzle well, but sometimes found it a bit confusing when he had to work out how much money to give me at the checkout!

  37. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Luca. I am glad that you enjoyed it. Money is a bit confusing. You can play shops again and it will get easier.

  38. Marcus’ shop is very nice. I sent a picture of mine. You will be surprised!
Sorry, my dad thought he sent it.

  39. Miss Siswick says:

I think Marcus would like to go shopping at your train shop too, Cesar!

  40. Madeleine ? says:

    Hello Miss Siswick,

Counting the coins and adding them was fine.
It took longer to add up the purse with a 10p coin and 4 coins of 2p. We had to try 3 times to make it right.
Madeleine have ask for help in order to solve the puzzle.
