Good Morning, Reception.

Well done for your great  listening and counting yesterday.

Today, we are going to play another number game.

You will need; your number cards, some counters, coins or buttons, some post-its or small pieces of paper and a pencil.

Lay all the number cards in a straight line from 0 to 20.

Now turn all of the cards over so that they are face down in the same places.

Write three different numbers from 0-20 on different post-its or on blank pieces of paper.

Put each number on top of the upside down number card which you think it matches.

When you’ve done all three, turn over the cards
and see if  your number matches the card underneath it.

Take a counter for each correct number.

Play as many times as you like and see how many counters you can win.

You could play against a grown up to see if you can get more counters than them!

If you are feeling very confident, you could try it with the number line backwards from 20-0

If you are finding it very tricky, you could lay out the cards in two rows, with 11 below 1, 12 below 2 and so on.

I am looking forward to hearing all about it.

Love from Miss Siswick

PRINTABLE VERSION:R Maths Wednesday

It would really help me if you could upload photos  straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.

I really enjoyed this game! I got 19 counters out of 20. I did the game with my big brother.

  4. Grace really enjoyed this. She wrote numbers to find from 1-10 – she did 3, 5 and 10 and so on. She guessed correctly by working our where her lowest number was and counting on to the next number she needed to look for and she was very happy with her amount of counters at the end! I explained about counting backwards from 10-1 which we did in ‘Blast Off’ so she understood. She tried it again and found 5 then 3.

  5. Good Morning Miss Siswick
