Good Morning, Reception.

Well done for all of your hard work in phonics this week.

Today, we will be practicing using the tricky words, the digraphs ‘ai’, ‘ee’, ‘oa’ and the trigraph ‘igh’ for reading and writing sentences.

Can you sound out and write these words all by yourself?

Can you read these sentences?

Can you write the sentences, without looking at them, when an adult reads them to you? Don’t forget your finger spaces!

This is a lot of writing at one time, so I would recommend that you do two or three at a time and then come back to it later.

Challenge: Write two questions for me by sounding out words and using your tricky words.

I am looking forward to seeing your writing today.

Love from Miss Siswick

PRINTABLE VERSION:R Phonics Friday

It would really help me if you could upload photos  straight to the media file (instructions are here: sharing photos and files) as they get to me more quickly and easily as they don’t have to go via the office and my e-mail. Please can either your child’s name or face (but not both) be visible on any photos. Many thanks.

    Good morning Miss Siswick,

Madeleine could read and write the words. (Not that we really wanted to read or write at all today ?)

    Hello Miss Siswick,
It was so nice to talk to you this morning!
We wrote down all the words for the pictures, we remembered all the diagraph and triagraph. We also read all the sentences on our own. We only wrote down 2 but will write the rest during the day. It was too much for us in one go.
    We sent you a picture.

  4. Good morning

Ryan read all the sentences and only needed help with the word ‘her’

He wrote all the words and one sentence without support – that was enough for today as he has a bit of writing fatigue.

  5. Chiara can sound and write the words and read and wrote the sentences without seeing them.
she is more confident in reading.

  6. Happy Friday Everyone!
Marcus was confident writing the sentences, and enjoyed the challenge of thinking up questions for Miss Siswick, using the most tricky words he could!

Hello, everyone. Fantastic writing this morning.
Well done, you have all been working so hard.

I am sorry that I am replying so late again but I was phoning children at home. It has been lovely to speak to so many of you this week and I am looking forward to seeing you soon.

  9. Maya did superbly with the reading. So far she has written three of the sentences. She needed quite a bit of help to stay focused enough to finish even one sentence though. It was quite taxing for her.

She then read the book Into The Stream. She finds it much easier to concentrate when reading story books with pictures than when she has to read stand alone sentences.
