Happy Friday Class 3!
May is the month in the Catholic Church Calendar where we honour and celebrate Mary, the mother of Christ.
If we were at school, today we would celebrate with the Marian Procession, where we would gather at St James’s church to honour Our Lady, Mary.
This is a joyful celebration where we would usually make colourful flowers and lay them down on the altar.
Do you remember during our Religious Education lesson in class we made a special card to honour Mary? We found out about special feast days to honour Our Lady too.

Task
As we are not in school to celebrate this special occasion, the whole school are going to complete the same task to mark the occasion of this unique event.
Your task is to create a piece of art that celebrates Mary, the mother of Jesus.
You can be creative with this!
You might like to do a drawing, collage, painting or even a 3D model. You may like to look at some pieces of Art of Mary to give you some ideas or inspiration. You may even like to make a flower instead. You can think back to the celebration at the church during this time with the many colourful flowers laid down.
As you complete your art work, think about and reflect on all of the things you know about Mary from the bible as a way to show your respect.

As it is May half term next week, today’s blogs will be our last blogs until 1st June 2020. I hope you have a very well deserved rest with your families. I have been extremely proud of all of your hard work over the last term, well done!

I’ve drawn a picture of roses because even though we are not going to have the procession I would still give Mary a bouquet of roses.
