Good morning Year 5,

Each of us, by the way we live our lives, the way we treat others, and by our words and actions, show if we have an attitude of service.

Often, we are especially influenced by those whose actions speak powerfully of a life of service.

BIG QUESTION:

Can you think of someone who impresses you deeply because of the way she/he lives?

What is it that impresses you?

What do you think inspires them?

It could be a Saint, someone you know or someone you have read about.

St. Louise de Marillac was a cofounder with St. Vincent de Paul of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, a congregation of laywomen dedicated to teaching and hospital work. I am impressed that she had such a strong influence at her time, training girls in the spiritual life and taught them to assist in visiting, feeding, and nursing the needy. I am inspired by the way she empowered other women to follow her footsteps and assisted our special Saint – St Vincent to begin their mission.

Christians believe that the Spirit of God is active in each person and, in a special way, in the community of believers, which is the Church.  It is the work of the Spirit to enable people to hear God’s message and to live Jesus’ way of service.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”

Luke 4: 18-19

I look forward to reading your answers to the Big Question.

Mrs Avdiu & Ms Robertson

A Prayer:

Father, pour out your Spirit

upon your people,

and grant us

a new vision of your glory,

a new faithfulness to your Word

and a new consecration to your service,

that your love may grow among us,

and your kingdom come:

through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

  1. Hello everyone, I hope that you all had a relaxing weekend. Here is a person who impresses me everyday:

My mum impresses me because she goes to work nearly everyday, 100% commited and always still manages to make time for me and my brother. She is so brave and even though she comes home tired and exhasted she always mamnages to have fun with us and feed us. She inspires me because she risks her life everyday going to work but continues to go so she can buy supplies and even in this tough time she still carrys out to go and work for us.

  2. Mrs Avdiu says:

She sounds wonderful and she is very lucky to have a daughter who appreciates her 🙂

  3. Hi everyone! I hope you had an amazing weekend!

My mum impresses me every day because she goes to work almost every day and she is being resilient as an NHS key worker. She is risking herself by going to work and taking care of patients in the hospital and she still helps us when we are at home! 🙂

My dad also impresses me a lot because since he can’t go to work now he is doing all of the home chores while my mum is at work! He makes our food and also cleans the house all by himself when me and my sister are also doing schoolwork!

    I hope you all have a brilliant day! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

  4. Mrs Avdiu says:

Kayla, you are very blessed to have such hard-working parents! A big THANK YOU to your mum for saving lives and helping our wonderful nation. You must be super proud 🙂
That’s great that your dad is looking after you all too- sounds like your family make a great team 🙂

  5. Hi everyone I hope u didn’t have a boring weekend ( but I wouldn’t be surprised if you did.) A person who impresses me is my Dad.

My Dad impresses me because he teaches me and my little sister at the same time while doing work as well. He still finds time to play with all of us and do extra fun lessons and activities. He has even built his own little studio under the stairs in our house so he can do voiceovers and earn money. Me and my Dad have this golf game on the Xbox which is really fun, it is called Powerstar Golf. He is a Super Dad.

Hi Iggy – I have to say it is very hard to have a boring weekend when you are running after a very active toddler (which is what I am doing most of the time!) but I really hope yours wasn’t boring either 🙂
I am also very impressed that your dad has built his own studio – how clever! I really miss seeing my dad so please continue to cherish this time with yours 🙂

    Good afternoon everyone!
My mum inspires me as she always helps me in everything and supports me. She also inspires me as she makes food for me and my family and makes time for me and my sister. Even when she comes home and is tired she still takes care of me.

I hope you all have a nice day!

  8. Mrs Avdiu says:

That’s lovely that you appreciate her sacrifices 🙂

  9. Violette says:

    Hello everyone, 🙂

My mum impresses me because she helps me for my education, she cookes the food we eat everyday, she cleans our rooms and clothes…
My mum also finds some time to play with me!! My mum impresses me because she is kind and always care about us!! My mum also corrects my works on the blog (sometimes) and she teaches me french (grammar, conjugation and so on)!!
MY MUM IS THE SUPER STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) 😉

  10. Mrs Avdiu says:

Violette, how lovely! What do you think inspires your mum to be the awesome person she is? 🙂

  11. Hi Everyone,
My mum impresses me because she works all day long and she even cleans the house despite all of the stuff she does at work in my house and I have no idea for how she manages to squeeze everything but without her and her job, we wouldn’t have food on our table. Some times, she even has time to play with me or my sister! I usually understand if she can’t help me with work because maybe she’s on a call with some of her other colleagues. She also has to have a 10 minute lunch because of work. Me and my mum have made our own studio for us to work on the top floor and it is really fun to work there as it is like working in an office but a lot quieter.

  12. Mrs Avdiu says:

That sounds wonderful! I’m sure you have been helping your mum during this time too 🙂

  13. Religious Education:
    Good Afternoon class 5!
My mum and dad are both really inspiring to me. My dad is inspiring as although he is always upstairs on conference calls, he always finds time to make me happy. He always gets me up early to spend time cycling on roads with him even though sometimes he might want to spend time without us. My mum is really inspiring to me because during lockdown she is still being really kind and although she is sometimes grumpy, I really appreciate the fact that on top of all the work she has to do with all of us beside her, she still feeds me and supports in school and home learning work.

  14. Mrs Avdiu says:

Regan, I am really impressed to see that you are managing to be so grateful during this time. It is a difficult time for many people who have to juggle work and home life but they are very lucky to have you and your sisters who I am sure are being super kind and helpful 🙂

  15. Hi Everyone!

I hope you are had an amazing weekend ❤️??????
I also hope you wish that you are all well!!

For today’s Religions Education Task I have chosen the people that inspire me the most.

Someone that inspires me are my parents because they have done everything for me : They have bought food for me and my two siblings to eat, they have gotten me a bed to sleep and for me to rest well , they have bought me a desk for me to do my homework ? and last of all they have given me a life for me to live in. My parents are two wonderful people that have looked after me more than they have looked after the themselves they have been through every step of my life and they will always be.

My parents impress me in my everyday life because even though they are busy with work and more important things they still make time to cook dinner, lunch and breakfasts ? they also have time to play hide and seek with me and my siblings.

I love ? you so much Mum and Dad ??????????♥️♥️❤️❤️?????

  16. Mrs Avdiu says:

Thank you for your post – it almost moved me to tears! How wonderful that you are practising gratitude during this time. You parents are also lucky to have you 🙂
Can you think of what may have inspired your parents to be this way? Faith, experiences, religion…?

  17. Thank you Mrs Avdiu ?

Yes, my parent have always believed that we can make the world a better place if everyone does their part .

  18. Hi everyone.??
The people I picked were my parents because me and my sister don’t always make ourselves very likeable or kind but they put put with us and try to make us happy , when we don’t always appreciate what they do for us. Also they try really hard to make us happy and we are both really proud and happy that they’re our parents.

  19. Mrs Avdiu says:

That’s lovely Sara. How lucky! 🙂 I hope you’ve been using this time at home to try to make them happy in return!

  20. Ms Robertson says:

Wow – what wonderful parents you all have – you must be so thankful and proud!
