What is a homophone?

Homophones are words that sound the same but have different meanings. They also have different spellings. These are some homophones that often confuse people:

‘here’ and ‘hear’

Examples: “Put it down here.” and “Speak louder, I can’t hear you!”

‘see’ and ‘sea’

Examples: “It’s so dark, I can’t see anything!” and “Let’s go for a swim in the sea.”

‘your’ and ‘you’re’

Examples: “Have you finished reading your book?” and “Do you know where you’re going?”

  19. They’re happy because they won a medal, for being good at playing with the ball. All were happy except their little brother who was bawling during the game because he didn’t get the ball enough.
    His mum said “have a piece of cake” so to calm him down.
    He could’t stop meddling with his brothers games, and let them in peace. His mother asked him to apologize to his brothers, he said “do you accept my apologies for being mean”
