In English, Year 1 became a class of creative inventors!
Inspired by our class text ‘Izzy Gizmo’, the children worked in groups to think of imaginative inventions to solve some silly, everyday problems. From an object grabber to a homework chomper, their ideas were wonderfully creative!
Working collaboratively, the children designed and drew their inventions, adding labels and adjectives to describe their features. They then put their oracy skills to the test by rehearsing and presenting their inventions to the class, confidently explaining the problems they had chosen and how their inventions would help.
Finally, the children created their own illustrations in their English books, labelled their inventions and wrote sentences explaining how they could solve the problem suing their inventions. We were so impressed with their fantastic ideas, teamwork and growing confidence in speaking and listening! I especially loved all of the creative names for all of your inventions.
Well done Year 1!
