Over the past week, we have been busy creating our very own Owl Babies, inspired by the lovely story Owl Babies. The children have really enjoyed exploring different ways to mark-make and represent the owls.
We used black sugar paper and white chalk, which created a fantastic contrast and helped the children to see their marks clearly. They experimented with lines, shapes and patterns to create the owls’ features, including their big eyes, wings and feathers. We also used pencils to add finer details and develop our drawings further.
It was wonderful to see the children becoming more confident in using the materials, making their own creative choices and talking about the features of their owls.
Our finished Owl Babies look fantastic and are a lovely reflection of the children’s creativity, imagination and developing mark-making skills!
