Today we welcomed Tola Okogwu into school to celebrate St Vincent’s Book Day with us!

Tola Okogwu is a British-Nigerian childrenโ€™s author. She believes itโ€™s important for children to read books that are reflective of their own experiences, as well as other cultures and she seeks to create these opportunities through her books and wider writing.

Tola worked with key stage two this morning to share a little bit about her background, her experiences as an author and talk about her new book ‘Onyeka and the Rise of the Rebels.’

After Tola shared with key stage 2, school council met with Tola as she kindly signed some copies of her reading books. School council delivered two signed copies of Tola’s reading books to each class in key stage 2 to enjoy reading in class!

Thank you to Tola Okogwu for joining us at St Vincent’s today, it was a wonderful experience to meet a children’s author!

I really enjoyed the visit from Tola Okogwu, a children’s author. I liked how she spoke about her childhood, when she was in Nigeria and how she became an author. I am definitely going to buy one of her books and read all of them as I am really inspired to read the book about Onyeka.
