As part of our World Book Day celebrations, this week we invited Jodie Garnish a children’s author to speak with key stage 2 and inspire their love of story writing.

Jodie Garnish is a playwright, performer and author. Her career as a performer has allowed her to shape the world of ‘The Spectaculars,’ her series of children’s books, as well as giving her a good insight into what young people love. She’s thrilled to have combined her passion for performance and children’s literature.

Jodie shared lots of her experiences as a performer and how this developed her love of story writing. Jodie talked to the children all about her series of books ‘The Spectaculars.’ She introduced her most recent book ‘The Wild Song Contest’ and talked about her inspirations for writing.

At the end of the session, a group of pupil representatives joined Jodie as she signed copies of her new book ‘The Wild Song Contest.’ We purchased some copies for us to enjoy reading in school and there will also be plenty of signed copies to purchase at our Book Fair on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th March.

A special thanks to Jodie for visiting St Vincent’s today, it was a wonderful experience!
