Today Nursery baked birthday biscuits for Kipper, from our book of the week ‘Kippers Birthday’. We had so much fun.

First we had to walk up to the creativity room (which was very exciting in itself) and then we talked about recipes! Miss Pycroft explained that a recipe has a list of the ingredients (things we need) and the method (how to cook it) for the biscuits. We then discussed all of the ingredients, which for our simple biscuits were flour, sugar, butter and we even had some sprinkles! We needed the butter to be soft and so we saw the butter when it was cold and then when it was hot after being in the microwave!

We then started mixing our ingredients together! First Miss Pycroft measured the sugar and flour into a measuring containing, and then everybody helped me to pour it in the bowls. We mixed those ingredients and then made a well into the centre for me to pour the warm butter. We then mixed all of that together. We decided if we needed more flour or more butter and added that to our mixture. Once it was the perfect biscuit consistency Miss Pycroft handed it out so everyone had an even amount. We then made our biscuits into the right shape, and added sprinkles on top. Miss Pycroft then carefully put the biscuits onto the oven trays and we put it in the oven.

Next we had a little play and then when the biscuits were finally ready we had to let them cool slightly before we got to have them for our morning snack. Yummo!!
