Year 3 and 4 had a lovely time at Broadstairs beach today! We arrived at school nice and early and took the coach to Broadstairs, Kent with all of our friends and teachers, some of our parents even came too!
We were very hungry when we arrived, so we had our lunch before began exploring.
Some of the teachers had to chase away the seagulls who wanted to steal our food! Thankfully, everyone’s sandwiches were safe…
Then we went down to the beach and listened to some beach rules from the lifeguard who told us about what the flags mean and where to seek help if we are lost or injured.
Afterwards, both classes took part in the annual Broadstairs sandcastle building competition! It was so much fun, the parents brought us some water and object from the sea so we could decorate our sandcastles. Congratulations to Camilla (Y3) and Rafael’s (Y4) teams for winning, and well done to everyone else for taking part!
Later in the day it was time for our Geography investigation with Miss Carruthers and a scavenger hunt with Mrs Duffy.
For our Geography investigation we counted the number of waves to hit the shore each minute for 5 minutes so we could find the average number of waves at Broadstairs beach, and see if the predictions we made in class are correct! Once all the hard work was over we had some time to paddle in the sea and jump over the waves.
We then headed from Viking bay to Luisa bay where we found some rock pools. Mrs Duffy had a list of things for us to try and find such as pointy shells, seaweed, patterned pebbles and shiny things in teams to see who could collect the most! It was really fun to search the rock pools. Some of us even found crabs and snails but we didn’t take them out of their homes.
At the end of our trip it was time for games and ice cream! It was a beautiful day and we were very tired by the end…

We made lots of special memories today and had a wonderful time for our first ‘big trip’ this year!

I really can’t say what was my favourite part of our visit to Broadstairs Beach because I really enjoyed all of it. It was lovely to see you all and be with you and your teachers. A super day. What a treat!

I really enjoyed the trip to Broadstairs and I am so happy I could go and have so much fun and I had a great time and I loved paddling in the sea even if I got wet🏊😆
My favourite part was going into the sea 🌊 and also sitting on the side of the rock pool and fishing for things.

My favourite part of the trip was the 🍦 🍨 ice cream, because it was a Mr. Whippy ice cream! I liked the sand competition and when we went into the sea (I was soaked!). But best of all were the wave counting, the scavenger hunt and playing with the beachball!

I wanted to say Broadstairs was a really fun trip because we actually had a first proper trip in 2 years. I had the best time!
My favourite part was going into the sea. We actually got to go deep and I got soaked! But the sandcastle and geography part was really fun too.
