Today in Year 6, we learned about the artist Claudette Johnson, who is a British visual artist. You can learn more about her life and work here: https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artists/claudette-johnson-15861

We have been learning that artists have their own preferred styles and techniques. We have already tried out lots of different art techniques and styles this year, inspired by the work of artists Paul Nash, Augusta Savage and Yinka Shonibare, and are developing our own preferred styles and techniques.

Today, inspired by Claudette Johnson’s style, we tried out sketching  figures, from life, on a much larger scale than we are used to. We took turns to sketch our partners and to pose for our partners. Some of us really enjoyed it while some of us decided that we much prefer working on a smaller scale.

Who is your favourite artist and why?

  2. It was lots of fun to be able to draw on a larger scale and to try Claudette Johnson’s style!
