This morning, after a hearty breakfast, we went to explore Ewhurst.

Ewhurst is a village in Surrey and is very different to Marylebone! We had a list of facilities and had to see what Ewhurst had. We found a school but it is only for infants, older children need to travel to another village or town. We looked for a library and couldn’t find one but there was a sign for a book swap.

Then we had Mrs Healy’s favourite activity – the traffic survey! We counted all the traffic that went past. We were all very excited to see a bus, which is a rare sight because they only come every two hours! Very different to London.

On our way back to Sayers Croft, we got stuck in some torrential rain! The teachers were very impressed that no one complained at all and were in high spirits all the way back to our dorm. We had warm showers and hot chocolate to help us all warm up before writing up our geography work. Miss Siswick taught us how to use 6 figure grid references so that we could all identify different features on the map. When we’re back at school next week, we’ll do the same surveys to compare Marylebone and Ewhurst.

We’re now off for lunch. Hopefully it won’t be so rainy this afternoon, but it hasn’t stopped us doing anything yet!!

  1. Miss Coleman says:

Oh dear! I hope you have all warmed up after your hot chocolate. I’m impressed by your positive attitudes despite the miserable weather.

  2. It was so interesting to look around the neighbourhood and spending our time in Ewhurst as an activity is so much fun, seeing how friendly everyone was also made my day.

  3. This activity was very fun! It was very interesting to compare the facilities and cars from Ewhurst to London. Once we finished the activity we started to walk back whilst it was lashing down with rain
