Today is St. George’s Day. St. George is the Patron Saint of England.

Our new topic is Traditional Tales.  St. George was a real person but his story sounds like a traditional tale! You can read it a version of it here: short-stories-british-tales-george-and-the-dragon-transcript

We had great fun listening to, retelling  and acting out the story of St. George saving the princess from the dragon  today.

We learnt about how castles were built in the time of St. George and then built  castles for him to live in with the princess.

We looked at the St. George cross on the flag of England and the flag of Great Britain and had a go at drawing our own.

We made our  shields and swords to protect us from the dragon and ended the day with a battle!

Happy St. George’s Day, everyone!
