Year 1 have been working so hard on their number skills these last two weeks.

Last week we spent a lot of time looking at a 100s square and the patterns we can see within. We talked about numbers up to 110, and practised counting one more, one less, ten more and ten less. We also practiced skip counting by twos, fives and tens and saw the pattern this makes on the 100s chart.

This week we delved further into number by looking at the tens and ones within a number. We have broken numbers up into their tens and ones and seen how we can use that to help us add and subtract. We have made numbers using tens and ones, and we have found the matching numerals for the numbers. Finally we have been looking at the number words for numbers up to 20.

Have a look at a snapshot of our great learning!
