In Music this term, we have learning how to play the ukulele with Mr Hylton!
We have been learning about the parts of the ukulele such as the strings and also the correct way to hold a ukulele with one arm at the two o’clock position and one hand holding near ukulele the tuning pegs and the other over strings next to the sound hole. Mr Hylton also demonstrated to us how to pluck and strum them. We have been taught a great way to make sure that the ukulele is in tune by using the saying “Good Children Eat Apples” which is the string order of a ukulele. How clever is that!
We have recently moved on to playing different chords on the ukulele to create the correct sound and following along to the right count whilst Mr Hylton plays the piano in the background as accompaniment. This week we got to try and recreate a song by combining the different chords which was tricky as we had to remember the order of the strings.
I have been so impressed hearing all the wonderful playing that Year 4 have been doing in music lessons!
