Although the school building is closed to most pupils, school is still open and happening on Google Classroom. Whilst it looks and feels very different to normal school, it is important to remember that we are all there together and need to treat each other with the same respect we would show at school.

All children are working very hard, listening to the pre-recorded lessons and completing their work to a good standard. Teachers are enjoying reading your answers and will always give you feedback on what you have done.

During our live sessions, we expect children to act the same as they would if we were sitting in our normal classrooms. This means following the usual class rules, treating both the children and adults with respect. But it is different! It is harder for the teachers to monitor all children when you are all at home. To help with this, we have come up with some ‘Live Teaching Agreements‘ for teachers, parents and children, so that everyone know what is expected of them during these live calls.

Live Teaching Agreement for Children

Your teachers will be going through the pupil agreements with you this week so that everyone is aware of the expectations. The main things to remember are:

  • To turn your cameras on for the whole session as this helps the adults to know you are there listening and understand what is being said
  • To mute yourself as this helps all children hear clearly. You can unmute yourself to share an answer if asked to be your teacher
  • Try and choose a background that is neutral or blur the background. Please make sure that you are dressed appropriately (no pyjamas!) and not eating during the session.
  • Don’t use the chat function for talking with your friends, only use it if asked to by your teacher
  • The session may be recorded, for safety reasons, and the teacher will let you know if it is. You must not record or take any photos or screenshots of any session.
  • Remember to behave in the same way you would if we were at school, putting your hand up if you would like to share something and respecting each other all the time.

Parents and children have a duty to report internet safety issues to the school. If anything happens or you notice anything that makes you feel unhappy or uncomfortable, please email the school office and SLT will look into it for you.

We cannot wait to have everyone back in the school building but we are all doing our best in the current situation. Well done for all your hard work!
