Our final morning!

After the fun of the pyjama disco last night, we were all quite sleepy when the teachers woke us up this morning! But we had a lot to do and had to packed up and tidy our dorms before our first activity.

Because of the lack of rain over the summer, the ponds were too low for us to pond dip. Instead, Gail took us to the bird hide. She gave us binoculars and bird identification sheets and we quietly sat and watched different birds in the woods. We saw blue tits, great tits, robins and nuthatches.

After this, we collected some nets and beating trays and went sweep netting in the meadow. We then used the identification sheets to work out what we had found. We found crab spiders, shield bugs, a dragonfly wing, ground beetles, a caterpillar and many more!

We then explored the history of Sayers Croft, finding out how all the children who were evacuated here in WWII used the different buildings that we’ve been using this week. We even went into an old air raid shelter!

We enjoyed our final Sayers Croft lunch and have all agreed that we’re going to miss the food here!

And now we’re heading to the coach to come back to London. We’ve had a great week and made lots of fun memories, but we’re looking forward to seeing everyone back in Marylebone! See you soon!
