We have had a fantastic first week of Year 1!
It is such a big change being in the main building this year, and everyone is doing so well remembering where to go. We have started our lessons and are already doing lots of work in our brand new books!
One the first day we created our Class Charter, where we all decorated a crayon to represent us, and show that we are all unique. We learnt about the rights the children have in connection to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and how it is the responsibility of adults to protect their rights. As a class the children thought about three rights that are important to them, they chose:
- I have the right to my name
- I have the right to learn
- I have the right to be safe
It has been such a lovely, sunny week, which Year 1 have loved as we now have break times on the roof!
We have started our class text ‘Stanley’s Stick’ and everyone has completed their first piece of writing, and we have started our Science topic all about plants!
Well done to everyone in Year 1 for your excellent efforts this week, you have all tried so hard during our lessons and I am so impressed with your work.

I loved my first week. It was full of new things to do everyday. It is a lot more work than Reception but soon I will get the pace. 😉
I had such a lovely 1st week of school! Thank you Miss Walsh for making it so special. My favourite part was celebrating your birthday party🎁 and seeing my friends again after our long summer break! I really like being dressed up so smartly in my new school tie aswell! 👔🙂
