Today, History came to life for Year 6 who were lucky enough to meet an evacuee!
Kitty Baxter came to tell us all about her experiences as an evacuee in the Second World War. Kitty was a child during WW2 and was evacuated three times.
Kitty told us all about her life in World War Two and answered all of our many questions. We felt very privileged to hear her speak-it was mesmerising to hear Kitty tell us her fascinating story.
Kitty also very kindly gave us a signed copy of the book she has written all about her experiences during the war which we are looking forward to reading.
Thank you so much, Kitty, for the book and for such a special and memorable afternoon. It was such a wonderful experience and we learned so much from you.

I had loads of fun listening to Kitty’s World War II experience. Miss Siswick was right, she did answer all my questions without me even having to ask any!! Kitty is a great storyteller and I really hope that I can hear from her again soon.
I was so exited to see a actual evacuee from WW2 and to hear about all the feelings she felt during world war 2. Kitty answered all my questions in great explanation and she was very talkative it was a great time😃.

I really enjoyed hearing Kitty’s point of view about the WWII because it is one thing learning from Google, but it is so interesting learning from a primary source. Thank you Kitty!
I loved hearing about Kitty’s life as an evacuee during World War II ! It was a privilege to talk to a primary source. It was very interesting and exciting! I can’t wait to meet her again in the future.

We were very privileged to meet Kitty who survived the 2nd world war and learn some primary sources facts. Kitty was very interesting and remembers lots as she was nine when it started.
It was so interesting to hear Kitty’s story as she is a primary source. It is so important that she came and spoke to us as there are not many people who have actually experienced this and are still able to walk around telling people.
I am so grateful that Kitty was able to come to us and talk to us all about her experience being an evacuee. This is one of a life time experience for me and my class.
