This morning, as part of our Religious Education topic about vocation & commitment, Father Philip came to speak to Year 6 .

Before he arrived, we talked about what they would like to find out more about. Year 6 came up with this excellent set of questions, that really showed both their learning and their interest in this topic:

  • What do you like about being a priest?

  • How did you get your calling?

  • How long have you been a priest?

  • How old were you when you entered the seminary?

  • What was it like at the seminary?

  • Was the studying difficult and did you pass first time?

  • Did you study before you decided to become a priest?

  • If you had not become a priest, what would you have liked to do?

  • Would you like to be a bishop one day?

  • Did you grow up religious?

  • Is anyone else in your family a priest or a member of a religious order?

  • Have you ever felt under pressure in your job?

  • Do you like living a simple life?

  • Have you celebrated all of the sacraments in your role as a priest?

  • Did you ever regret becoming a priest?

  • Apart from Jesus, do you have a role model?

  • Did you work at the Vatican when you were in Rome?

  • Why is the Vatican considered a country?

  • Does a saint have to be Catholic?

Father Philip answered all of these questions and many more and we learned so much more about how he has dedicated his life to God and helping others.

Many thanks to Father Philip for his visit this morning.  We really appreciate you giving up your time and the effort that you went to, answering all of our questions.
