Every year we promote and encourage you to take part in the fun Summer Reading Challenge!

This year, the Summer Reading Challenge’s Silly Squad will celebrate funny books, happiness and laughter. If you take part in the Challenge you will join the Silly Squad, an adventurous team of animals who love to have a laugh and get stuck into all sorts of funny books!


How to take part

This year, the summer reading challenge is a little bit different with the disruption caused by Covid-19.

The 2020 Challenge will launch in a new digital format online. The Challenge will run from 5 June to mid-September.

To sign up to the reading challenge, click HERE and simply enter your details to create an account. Ask an adult to help you with this part.
Once you have signed up you have access to lots of other fun activities and games!

 

Where to find books

If you’re looking for some book suggestions to get you started, the Silly Squad Book Collection is full of fun reads specially chosen by children and librarians.

If you need more recommendations on what to read then use the Book Sorter! Pick your favourite types of books and see what other Silly Squad members are reading.

Westminster libraries offer many free online resources, including eBooks, eMagazines, eNewspapers and eAudiobooks which can be accessed with your Westminster library card. Click HERE to find out how to access these resources.

 

More Activities

The Summer Reading Challenge website is free to access and features games, quizzes and downloadable reading activities that you can take part in.

There is also a Reading Club where you can find out more about some of your favourite authors and illustrators and their lovely books.
