The Life Cycle of a Butterfly

Our book of the week this week is…

In our Understanding the World activity, we learnt about the life cycle of a butterfly.

We learnt some key vocabulary:
egg, caterpillar, cocoon & butterfly

We learnt about the changes a caterpillar goes through and how it becomes a butterfly!

• First a butterfly lays her egg on a leaf.

• Next the caterpillar begins to eat its way out of the leaf. After, it eats and eats until it becomes big.

• Then the caterpillar will shed its skin and go inside the cocoon.

• Finally the butterfly will come out of the cocoon and fly away!

We made our own life cycle with pictures and talked about this process.
