Class 1 recently visited the Museum of Childhood.

We were involved in a workshop where we had to identify similarities and differences between children’s lives now and in the past by investigating toys. We developed an awareness of the past using common words or phrases relating to the passing of time and we created a simple chronological framework of ‘now’ and ‘then’. In addition to this, Class 1 were encouraged to understand why and how toys are different and to explore the materials from which old toys were made. We were also given the opportunity to make a toy and take it home!

We had a great time exploring the museum and there were lots of toys from the past that we could play with.

We especially loved the role play area! As you can tell in this photo, the boys were very hungry (!)
